The native alcohol and drug abuse program (NADAP) in Abegweit First Nation has provided opportunities that will accomplish the physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being of the first nations affected by substance abuse.
The following areas are emphasized; awareness, prevention, intervention, treatment after-care/follow-up, pre and post-treatment counseling, referrals and relapse prevention.
The objective of prevention and maintenance services is to provide a variety of educational and counseling services, drug and substance abuse awareness and to create community awareness of the nature and effect of alcohol, drugs and other substance abuse.
Prevention and after-care: youth programs, A.A., referrals, and other aboriginal cultural and spiritual practices, are incorporated in the range of educational and community awareness.
